Rotation Six: February 20th – March 16th


Kindergarten: This rotation we will continue to work on logging into Learning.com. Students will continue to work on typing daily as well as learn about foundations of coding through the website Tynker. They will learn basic coding skills by completing different activities.

1st: This rotation we will continue to work on proper keyboarding and as well as learn about the foundations of coding. They will work through different lessons on Code.org and also on learning.com code Monkey. They will also watch different videos to see how coding is used everywhere around us daily.

3rd: This rotation we will continue to work on proper keyboarding and as well as learn about the foundations of coding. 5th: This rotation we will continue our work on the Dream Vacation Project. In this rotation they will finish up their itineraries in Word, budgets in Excel and work towards creating a presentation about their trip in Power Point. Next rotation they will present their trip to the class. They will continue to work on typing skills and continue to move closer to their end of the year typing goal.

Rotation Five: January 22nd – February 16th

 
Kindergarten: This rotation we will continue to work on logging into Learning.com. Students will continue to work on typing daily and start and finish different lessons within the website. Students will continue to explore different websites to gain more control with their mouse and get familiar with solving problems that arise when they are working on the computers.

 

1st: This rotation we will continue to work on proper keyboarding and completing lessons to help us gain a deeper knowledge of home row key typing. We will be starting a new project in Microsoft Power Point on an animal of their choice. They will research different animals through San Diego Zoo for Kids website and then watch a video on an animal of their choice. Once they have some information they will head to PowerPoint and create a slide or two on that animal. They will learn how to type in the text boxes and insert a picture.

 

2nd: This rotation we will continue to work on proper keyboarding and practice daily to achieve our end of the year typing goal. We will start a new project using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Students will create a question in partners to survey their class on. Once they have those results, we will learn how to create an Excel spreadsheet and input the data. From there, students will learn how to create a bar graph in Excel with the data they received. They will have a supporting lesson in Learning.com to help them understand the functions and tools in Excel.

 

3rd: This rotation we will continue to work on proper keyboarding and practice daily to achieve our end of the year typing goal. We will start a new project using Microsoft word and Microsoft Excel. Students will create a question in partners to survey their class on. Once they have those results, we will learn how to create an excel spreadsheet and input the data. From there, students will learn how to create a bar graph in excel from the data they received. They will have a supporting lesson in Learning.com to help them understand the functions and tools in Excel. 

 

4th: This rotation we will continue to work on how to find more reliable websites while they use the internet to research for their new Birthday Party projects. Students will be working in partners to form a list of birthday items they will want to get. They will then research prices for each item. We will then learn new skills in Excel and form a spreadsheet showing a budget layout using $60. Students will learn how to use different formulas that help them stay on budget! They may not go even a penny over. We will continue to do typing practice daily and keep working towards our end of the year typing goal.

 

5th: This rotation we will continue to work on finding more reliable websites while they use the internet to research for a Dream Vacation! Students will work with a partner, or two, to plan and budget a dream vacation for a family of four. They will use their researching skills, Microsoft Word skills and learn new skills to create a budget in Excel. This project will continue into the next rotation also. They will continue to work on typing skills and continue to move closer to their end of the year typing goal.

 

6th: This rotation we will continue to work on finding more reliable websites while they use the internet to research for a Dream Vacation! Students will work with a partner, or two, to plan and budget a dream vacation for a family of four. They will use their researching skills, Microsoft Word skills and learn new skills to create a budget in Excel. This project will continue into the next rotation also. They will continue to work on typing skills and continue to move closer to their end of the year typing goal.
 

 

Rotation Four: December 11th – January 19th


Kindergarten: This rotation we will continue to work on proper keyboarding and completing lessons to help us gain a deeper knowledge of home row key typing.  We will continue to work in Microsoft Word learning how to insert pictures and type words. We will be focusing our work in Microsoft Word around the two character traits for the month, Generosity and Compassion. We will start learning how to open the internet and go to Learning.com.  Once we get into learning.com students will learn how to start lessons, go to other websites and navigate their way through the web.

We will also be learning about different parts of the computers and doing a match game in learning.com to gain a deeper understanding of the parts. 


2nd: This rotation we will continue to work on proper keyboarding and completing lessons to help us gain a deeper knowledge of home row key typing.  We will be starting a new project in Microsoft Power Point about our character traits this month, Generosity and Compassion. We will also be learning about different parts of the computers and doing a match game in learning.com to gain a deeper understanding of the parts. 

 

3rd: This rotation we will continue to work on proper keyboarding and completing lessons to help us gain a deeper knowledge of home row key typing.  We will be starting a new project in Microsoft Power Point about our character traits this month, Generosity and Compassion. Students and I will discuss how to find more reliable websites while they use the internet to research for their projects. We will also be talking about more safety tips online and how to be a good digital citizen while online.  **If students would like to increase their grades on the digital citizenship test they need to come see me during study hall.**

Students and I will discuss how to find more reliable websites while they use the internet to research for their projects. We will also be talking about more safety tips online and how to be a good digital citizen while online.  **If students would like to increase their grades on the digital citizenship test they need to come see me during study hall.**

Rotation Three: November 6th – December 8th

Kindergarten: This rotation we will continue to work on proper keyboarding and completing lessons to help us gain a deeper knowledge of home row key typing.  We will continue to work on logging in and out of the computers and the proper way to use our mouse.  We will start learning how to open programs on our computer such as Microsoft Word and play around with some of the formatting tools such as font style, size and color.  As we continue with those skills they will also be introduced to what coding is and play on Tynker.com to learn basic coding skills.
 
Grade 1

They will have to type commands in groups and work together to make it out of the maze.
 
Grade 3
This rotation we will continue to work on proper keyboarding and keyboarding practice.  We will practice logging in and out of both the computer and learning.com.  They will have some keyboarding lessons in learning.com to finish up this week, as well as, starting a new document in Microsoft Word.  They will learn how to open, create, and save a word document and also learn formatting tools within this program.  Alongside with learning Microsoft Word they will get a layout of what coding is through a video and a first-hand look into how coding works by “coding” Ms. Birdno through a maze. They will have to type commands in groups and work together to make it out of the maze. They will be able to explore coding on their own through code.org and coding challenges in learning.com. (Their grades for their digital citizenship test will go in the gradebook beginning of Trimester 2).
 
Grade 4
