Lincoln Meadows

Middle School (6-8) P. E.

Welcome back to LM MS PE! The middle school PE team of Coach Hand and Coach Hanchett are extremely excited to be back at LM after almost a year and a half!  We will be busy our first full week of school completing our pre-assessments.  They want to ensure they complete these to the best of their ability.  Also, please remember that proper shoes are a PE requirement.  So come one, come all and let's get stronger and faster, while having a blast playing our favorite team sports this Spring!

2/24/25-3/7/25-Syllabus and Pre-Assessments-Both Classes

Pacer, Push-Up, Plank, Shuttle Run, and Jump Rope test

3/10/25-3/14/25-Handball-How fitting it is that Ms. Hanchett's and Mr. Hand's PE classes start the year off with Handball?!  This Team Sport is extremely popular in Eastern Europe and is actually a Summer Olympic sport.  Students will continue to develop their throwing, catching, and accurate/timely passing.  Of course we have tweaked the rules a bit to perfectly accommodate our needs and space.  This will serve as a quick, mini unit right before Spring Break.

Basketball and Volleyball-3/24/25-4/18/25

March Madness is upon us! My favorite time of the year. What better way to celebrate than to start our own Basketball Unit?!  Middle school has the entire gym for the next month so we will switch between basketball and volleyball.  Students will develop fundamental skills including dribbling, passing, and shooting.  They will not only become familiar with the rules of the game, but also offensive and defensive strategies.  Students will participate in full-speed scrimmages and be quizzed on their knowledge of general basketball rules, gameplay, and fundamentals. Ultimately, their fundamental skills proficiency will also be assessed.

Coming back on a plane from Spring Break yesterday, the airports were teeming with high school, college, even professional indoor volleyball players. Indoor volleyball tournaments are in full-swing. So we will coincide this with our Volleyball Unit. Students will receive instruction and practice time for bumps, sets, spikes/tips, and serving. They will also learn the general rules and serving rotation. Effective teamwork, sportsmanship, and communication are also a focus. This unit will culminate with students demonstrating their development during full speed scrimmages, and being assessed on their fundamental skills proficiency.

Happy Spring LM community!  Believe it or not, we are only a month away from our LM MS Field Day on 519/25!  This year, we will only have 3 big stations, which means less rotating, more choice for students, and more time to play what they love.  We need parent volunteers to help do a similar job to what they normally do:  run the stations, organize, and get kids playing quickly.  However, with the new setup, we should have more help on hand to make it easier.  Below is a link to signup up.  Please get involved, and come join us for such a fun event! Thank you so much!
