What’s Happening Around Campus:

MS/Elementary Dress Code Reminders:

As a school, we are starting to notice a few dress code violations in both middle school and elementary and would appreciate your attention to these bulleted items to improve dress code compliance.

  • Slip on Uggs are not allowed
    • At no time shall open-toed or open-heeled shoes be worn. Sandals, flip-flops, rubber shoes (such as Crocs), or slippers of any brand are not allowed.
  • Hair/MakeUp— Elementary vs. Middle School
    • Hair
      • Tinsel is not allowed for either elementary or middle school students. Additionally, our policy states: “Unusual (hot pink, lime green, purple, etc.) hair coloring is not allowed. Shaved patterns/words/images are not allowed.”
    • MakeUp
      • Lightly-applied mascara (brown or black), blush (pale neutral or pale pink), and lip gloss (clear or pale pink) are the only forms of makeup that are allowed in Middle School.
      • Middle School is not allowed to wear false eyelashes and excessive amounts of eyeliner. Please ensure your child is wearing a mild/moderate amount of makeup.
      • Elementary students are not allowed to wear make-up.
  • T-shirt/AA Shirt Policy
    • We have been seeing many middle school students wearing a plain t-shirt underneath their AA zip up sweatshirt. Our policy states under “General Uniform Guidelines”-- “Items worn inside the classroom must be approved uniform items. Only plain white undershirts or Dennis Uniform mock turtleneck shirts may be worn under uniform shirts for warmth. Shirts must be tucked in at all times.”

Please continue to follow all that our dress code policy states. Follow this link to read more on our dress code policy.

What’s Happening Outside of Campus:
As technology continues to advance, so do the outside pressures that our students face. From YouTube Challenges to marketing of hazardous items to today’s youth the only way to stay abreast of all of it is through daily research. My hope is that the information provided in this section can give parents a starting ground of what is going on and open communication lines in regard to social media, hazardous items, and how to lead by example versus following the “cool” new trend. By no means am I able to list everything that is going on through social media, but hopefully this acts as a starting point.

Internet & Social Media Awareness:

Parents, thank you for taking time to read through this important email. If you'd like to see any other topics/subject covered, please reach out to me. I hope to see you all at some of the amazing events coming up.

Sincerely,
